Michelle Atwater teaches from the heart. She is passionate and compassionate, empowering the individual/class through a soulful, athletic, energizing flow. Michelle came to the practice of yoga in the late 90's as an alternative to all her athletic activities, and discovered the practice to be not only physically rewarding, but also calming and nourishing to the mind. Michelle brings this mindfulness to her classes so students leave feeling their connection to their mind, body and soul. Michelle received her initial 200 RYT certification in 2012 through House of Shanti with Pam Udell and Lordes Paredes and has since received several other 200 RYT's working to deepen her knowledge and heighten her personal daily yoga practice through a variety styles of yoga. Michelle says the lessons and learning of yoga is endless and she is grateful for her connection with the community.
This class was developed as a combination of our hot vinyasa classes and niyama hot yoga. The postures are sequenced to build slowly, open the body in a safe manner, and strengthen body and mind from head to toe. This class set to uplifting tunes, combines flowing sequences and static holds. Suitable for all level students, but modifications are provided for both the newer student and the advanced practitioner. The added heat and humidity in the room promote deep stretching and enhanced mental focus. Classes are heated between 92 and 95 degrees.
This class will guide you in a meditative flow incorporating sun salutations and variations of standing poses linked together. Class will focus on standing asanas, balance poses, arm balances and core followed by deep opening asanas. Attention on breath and alignment is incorporated along with sequencing designed to help create strength and flexibility in body and mind. Understanding of the sun salutations and how to modify poses on your own is important. Room is heated between 92-95 degrees.
